Pomskies need exercise. These dogs' ansestors were born and bred to run, and if they don't get the chance they will find other, more destructive ways to get rid of all that energy. (i.e. chewing things up, digging holes, and howling)
Make sure your yard is ready for your Pomsky.

A six foot fence is recommended.

Make sure there is nothing that could be easily climbed near the fence.

Make sure there are no large openings near the bottom of your fence.

If your fence is placed on dirt, consider some form of dig prevention. Railroad ties work well and are inexpensive and readily available.
Pomskies dig. There are effective methods to prevent this we can demonstrate when you come to visit our puppies.
When you take your Pomsky out for a walk, he needs to be on a leash. In fact any time you take him out of your yard, he needs to be on leash. This is because Pomskies love to run, and they are definitely faster than you are. He may see something he can't resist the urge to chase, or just want to run off to explore. He may even think running away from you is a really fun game. The bottom line is, for their protection, you need to make sure you can prevent him from running away from you where he could get lost, hit by a car, or picked up by a stranger who can't resist taking home such a beautiful animal. Let's face it, they are beautiful, valuable animals who will happily jump in the car with anyone who stops to pick them up. They are intelligent animals that take well to training, to come when called for example, even when outside of your yard. We'd be happy to share some training tips with you.
We do not recommend collars with plastic style buckles could possibly snap under strain. A metal prong and hole style buckle collar is stronger and more reliable.
Feeding your Pomsky. Changes in their diet can cause them to have loose or runny stools. It is best to find a diet that works for your animal and try to stick to it. We know of several brands of dog food with which Pomsky owners have had success, we're happy to share which ones when people come to visit our puppies.

Never feed your Pomsky cooked chicken bones. They do ok with other types of bones but chicken bones are small and can present a choking hazard.

Pomskies will happily eat "human food" but be careful not to feed them too much or it could upset their stomach. Hot dogs cut in small pieces work great as treats when training your Pomsky.

Your Pomsky may have stomach problems (i.e. loose stools, runny stools) after moving to a new home or starting on a new food. If it persists for more than a couple of days, withhold food from them for 24 hours but make sure they have plenty of liquid. After the fast, feed them rice boiled with some chicken breast for flavor. This should help their stomach to calm down. After a day or two of rice, start mixing a little of their regular food in the rice, gradually transitioning them back to their regular food over the next couple days.

If stomach problems persist, consider changing their food.

Diarrhea is serious in puppies (if they are passing nothing but liquid or near liquid). If a puppy has diarrhea make sure they are drinking plenty of water. If they will not drink or have diarrhea for more than 1 day they should be taken to the veterinarian immediately.

If your puppy has blood in his diarrhea take them to the veterinarian immediately.
Pomskies love company. They don't make good guard dogs, as they basically love everybody. They will always be excited to meet new people and need to be trained not to jump up on new acquaitances. Puppies will always be happy to have the company of another puppy if possible.
Pomskies like to chew.

If you buy a puppy a fancy pet bed, they will more than likely tear it to pieces.

Puppies may need to be trained not to bite your hands. You will want to give him something else he can bite, a rope or sturdy chew toy. Pomskies of any age need to be supervised with toys and should not be left alone with them, as they will destroy them and may swallow the pieces. Raw hide bones are a good alternative as they will satisfy their need to chew, keep them entertained for some time, and they are allowed to destroy and swallow them.
Grooming your Pomsky. Pomskies don't require much in the way of grooming, they will continue to look beautiful with little more than an occasional bath and brushing. Your Pomsky might blow its coat once a year, during which they will need to be brushed every day for about a week. Or they might shed thoughout the year, in which case brushing him after you bathe him will keep his coat beautiful and your house clean.
Crate training you Pomsky. You will want to purchase a large size crate for your puppy, and you can put his food and water in it in order to help them get used to it. In short order they will get used to sleeping in it and will voluntarily go inside when they want to relax. Crate training is also the best way to house train your puppy.
